Summer Fun Part 1: Cedar Point

It's August and I'm just now getting around to posting about our summer activities we've conquered.

Part 1: Cedar Point!

In June we took the boys to Cedar Point. It was their first time there and a beautiful day to go. Knowing our boys are ages 5 and 2, we knew our day would be spent primarily on rides catered to that age group. We all had a great time and even Brock managed to make it until 4-5pm before finally being too tired to go on. The boys loved the car rides, the antique cars, and the train ride to name a few. Seth went on his first roller coaster, the Jr. Gemini!

We packed a picnic lunch and of course splurged on some amusement park treats : soft pretzel, cotton candy, and cookies.

Was a fun-filled day and the boys looked like this just minutes from leaving the park:

Just for s & g's...

So, I'm saving for a bigger car. Don't get me wrong, my current car has been completely dependable the almost 9 years I've had it. But, our family fills it up. It would be nice to have a couple extra seats for when we have extra people with us.

I keep saving. I know we will buy a used car and pay cash for it. We are hardcore don't-go-into-debt-for-anything-but-a-house kind of people. This is a lesson in patience having to diligently save and wait, then save and wait some more. I have a goal in mind (and will likely have to increase that amount to get what I want) and recently hit the half-way point in my saving.

So, just for fun, I looked to see what kind of cars could I buy with the money I have saved right now. Ready?

2002 Jaguar: This says my husband is in the mob. Don't ask why my kids are in hand-me-downs.

2000 Lexus: It's beige. That is all.

2004 Eclipse: Woo-hoo! Kids will just love going on rides with mom. We all know carseats look killer in convertibles.
1986 Camaro: This pretty much assures me that no one will mess with me or my kids. We're too bad ass.
I wonder if a tape of Def Leppard comes with it?

Downtown, now Uptown!

First it was a Downtown Lakewood Holiday Open House, then guess what? The folks at Uptown Lakewood wanted to do the same, with a different theme of course. So I got to work...

Uptown Lakewood invites you to visit Candy Cane Lane:

This was pretty fun, I have to admit.

This is the poster design chosen by Downtown Lakewood Business Association. Like it? I was actually surprised they chose this, but ultimately I'm just happy they liked one I presented.

The UNchosen Ones

Ok, friends. Here they are. The two designs that weren't chosen for the Come Home to Lakewood event next month:

These were very basic concepts, as information was limited.
When the chosen design is finalized, I'll post it.

New Project!

Ok, so a couple weeks ago I was asked to supply the graphics for Downtown Lakewood Business Association's event in December. It's going to be called "Come Home to Lakewood" and I will be creating the marketing materials for the event.

Pretty excited for this opportunity...which also comes with some nervousness. My work can be seen throughout downtown Lakewood during the Farmer's Market season, but this is new territory for me/my business. Hopefully this is the beginning of a working relationship with another Lakewood organization!

I submitted three very basic poster designs for their review (I have very little info at this point). I'll update with their decision and show the designs that weren't chosen as soon as I hear back. Fun, fun!
