8 Months!

Seth is 8 Months old today! Time is really flying. I have lots to do before he turns 1. I haven't started his baby book yet, but am just about ready to start it. I have organized the photos and am waiting on the rest of the prints to arrive (I ordered them from snapfish for convenience and they were cheap).I've also reserved a space at the pavilion at Lakewood Park for his birthday party on Aug. 30. Glad I called this week because 2 of the 4 spaces had been reserved already.

So let's see... Seth is basically sitting on his own now. Eventually he may topple over if he tries to reach something far away or watch where I am walking across the room. But anyway, he can sit and play with his toys all by himself. He isn't crawling yet, but I see progression in that area. When on his belly he scoots all around in a big circle. He hasn't figured out that he can use his arms and legs to go forward and back. So for now, he scoots around. He loves to stand (with help from us of course)! His legs are nice and strong and he kicks them ALL the time! It makes giving him a bottle challenging at times because he is frantically kicking.

Seth is still in the teething phase. He has no teeth yet but his gums are very swollen and the drool is endless. We've battled diaper rash and still battling a red, blotchy mouth and cheek area. Thank you teething! Poor guy, I know he must be so uncomfortable sometimes.

Seth still loves to eat and is a pretty good sleeper. We have had a few nights that he doesn't wake at all for a feeding. But overall, he still gets up once in the morning (around 4:30) then back to sleep until 7. He takes 3 naps a day usually, each around an hour long (they range from 45min on a bad day to 2+ hours on a good).

That's the Seth recap. He is our pride and joy and we love him so much. He's an easy baby and we're so grateful for that!

Movin' on up

We finally purchased Seth's new car seat. He's out of the infant carrier and into his second and final toddler seat. It's good up to 80 lbs. so it should last awhile. We now have to carry him in our arms to and from the car, unless we're using the stroller at our destination. It's nice in some aspects but more challenging in others.

I think Seth likes his new seat, he already looks much more comfy in it. Yesterday he spit up in it...just marking his territory I guess. :o)

7 months

Seth was 7 months on March 30, and yes, I'm just now getting some photos up. These are just a couple random photos but still very cute. He's still working on getting some teeth, which means he's soaking bibs and has got the corner of his mouth irritated from having fingers in there constantly.

No new milestones. He's close to sitting on his own, but still topples over if left alone too long. No signs of crawling yet either. Each baby does it at their own pace I guess. :o)

Easter Sunday

We had an enjoyable Easter Sunday. After church, we headed down to my parents' house. But, before that we made a stop to see Seth's Great Grandma (my only living grandparent). He was the highlight of her day! He gave her a couple smiles, which melted her heart and made her feel good (since she doesn't see him, or us, very often).



After that we arrived at Grandma & Grandpa's house. We had an Easter egg hunt (which we watched from the window) and searched for our Easter baskets (only for the kiddos). Seth had a basket heaped with new clothes and even got a few candy bars! Seth told us that he was so happy with the clothes that we (me and daddy) should enjoy the candy bars. Isn't he so thoughtful?! :o)

Just playin' around

Seth loves his exersaucer! Almost every piece bends down to his level where it inevitably ends up in his mouth. I've noticed that his legs are stronger since he's been using this too. Fun!

Our kitchen redo

This weekend, as the snow came down, we spent our time indoors fixing up our kitchen. When we bought the house 4 years ago, we didn't change the kitchen floor...mainly because there were so many other things that were more important. So, now was the time. Evan did a great job doing this basically by himself. I helped in small ways during my breaks...someone had to take care of the 3rd Hammersmith!

Of course we were so anxious to get started that I forgot to snap a true "before " photo, but you'll get the idea with these:

BEFORE:
This is the floor with most of the tiles pulled up. I'd say about 80% came up with no effort. The next is a close-up of the old color scheme. We had selected that paint color to go with the existing tiles. It worked for awhile, but it was time to change.



This is Evan getting the last of the tiles up. There were 4-5 that were pretty tough to remove.


AFTER:
I think it turned out great. It looks so much cleaner! Not bad for around $100.

Snow Storm: Cleveland

Well, we all know that a state-wide snow storm blew through Ohio the past couple of days leaving behind several inches of snow. Evan and I spent the weekend replacing the flooring and painting our kitchen. I will post the before and after photos tomorrow or Tuesday.
