The Executive

Seth and I were just playing around yesterday and I sat him in the desk chair. He seemed so proud sitting in it, so I grabbed the camera.

It's been a trying week. Seth came down with the stomach flu on Sunday morning (then I got it Monday night) and still isn't himself. I think he is getting quite a few new teeth which has him cranky and tired, with little appetite. He wants to snuggle on the couch with his blanket quite a bit, so that's enjoyable...but I still want my happy, smiling boy back. Hopefully next week will be better.

Had to Take a Photo

This morning's sunrise was beautiful, I had to take a picture. Unfortunately, the camera didn't do the colors justice. I opened the patio door for a split second to snap this. It's very cold, but the sunrise gave the illusion of warmth...I can dream, right?

Little Minds

I think it's fun to watch Seth play and to try to figure out his thoughts/logic. Tonight as I was baking cookies, he was at the fridge playing with his toy he got from Grandpa George and Grandma Elaine. It's a farm where you put the animal pieces (all magnetic) in and it will make the animal sound, give you a small fact about the animal, etc.

I've mentioned that Seth likes to empty out cabinets and move things from one spot to another. I was especially amused tonight when I turned around to see what he was doing with his farm animals on the fridge. Below are a couple photos.


Apparently, Seth was ready to deep fry some farm animals for a snack. ha. Our little meat eater! I don't think he has seen us use the fry basket, but it is stored at his level...so it was fair game. I don't know, I thought it was cute and funny.

Back to Himself

We are all slowly getting back to normal from our colds and sinus infections. They all seem to be taking their sweet time to leave our bodies. But, Seth is back to himself and getting into all the things he was into before. I actually am pleased to see him playing and laughing again, it warms my heart.

Here are a couple photos from yesterday...I figured it had been a couple weeks since I posted anything. Seth just really enjoys emptying out cupboards and shelves. He doesn't really care what the items are, just making room for himself, apparently. (No need for comments regarding the harmful chemicals under the sink, Seth is supervised.) :o)

Nice Christmas despite illness

We survived our whirlwind of travels, which was a little tougher this year since all three of us came down with a cold.

Christmas Eve we arrived at Grandpa George and Grandma Elaine's house. Evan was already feeling very bad (sinus infection), so my mom had some antibiotics waiting for him upon arrival. Evan was pretty much glued to a couch for the duration of our 2-day stay. I had a fever but was basically feeling ok. Seth did great and was fine until we got home on Friday. He received many great gifts: lots of clothes, books, etc. He wasn't much at all interested in Christmas gifts, decorations or anything else. Maybe next year!

Seth has been dealing with a high fever most of the weekend. He has a cough and a runny nose. Thankfully, the fever went down into the 99s yesterday and stayed there without medicine. He hasn't had much of an appetite, but is eating little bits. Other than sounding bad, he is acting somewhat normal. We are thankful that this is the first time he's been sick, to make it 16 months without incident is pretty good!

Yesterday we were at Grandpa James & Grandma Suzie's for the Hammersmith Christmas. Again, very nice and Seth did well.

We are thankful that our traveling has come to an end for now. We all need to recover and get some rest.

Seth's visit with Santa

On Saturday, Seth had his visit with Santa. He didn't cry, but didn't look too excited to sit on his knee either. Oh well, we assured Santa that Seth had been a good boy this year. :o)

In other news, Seth is basically walking these days. I'd say he walks 85% of the time. He walks enough that we decided to move him out of the nursery at church yesterday. He is now in the "walkers" classroom. This may encourage him to walk even more since everyone in there is walking. He seemed a little in shock as we dropped him off, kinda like dropping your kid off at camp. I think it was harder for me than him. After church the attendant said he was very good, so I guess he has adjusted to it!
