How have I been feeling?

This question seems to be the #1 question asked by family and friends as they've learned of my big news. So, I have an answer for you:

Due to my all-day, every day nausea, I'm snacking on something just about every waking hour. Now, I'm not throwing up (as of yet) and I'm so very thankful for that!! But my steady diet of granola bars, granny smith apples, and pretzels to keep my stomach at ease is getting old. I'm completely fine as long as I'm sleeping or eating. ha! what a life, right?

Other than my stomach, I'm feeling pretty great. I get tired a little earlier in the evening and take a nap on weekends whenever possible. I still try to make it to the gym on a couple weeknights for something low-intensity, but lately I've opted out due to the "morning" sickness issue. Some nights I'm just not up to doing anything but going home and chilling on the couch. I am very much looking forward to a somewhat back-to-normal routine! I want spring to get here so I can go on walks outside in the evening and get fresh air and move around.

I'm having my first ultrasound on Friday, March 9. They are going to see how I'm progressing and confirm how far along I am. I'm very excited to see what's going on in there! I guess I still have a hard time believing this is all for real. Well, the nausea reminds me frequently. I have my next check-up on March 13, I think we'll get to listen for a heartbeat but I'm not sure.

Happy Valentine's Day: Official Announcement

Happy Valentine's Day! (There's so much snow here it's not even right.)


Anyway, on to the official announcement:

It is with great joy that I announce that Evan and I are expecting our first child!! I've known for a few weeks, but waited to get the doctor's confirmation this morning before sharing. I am 7.5 weeks along on this 40-week journey. I'm not out of the woods yet as far as miscarriage goes, so hopefully the next month is uneventful in that way. They say I'm due on September 29, Evan's birthday is the 30th. So, he might have to begin sharing it with his son or daughter.

Hammersmith Handicrafts: Part 2

Well, here is that last of our creations from our pottery class, which ended Jan. 17. The leaf candleholder is mine, I just need to purchase a square candle for it. Of the little pots, Evan did the green and blue/purple ones, I did the green/yellow one. Our home studio is now complete with the exception of the wheel, for throwing. We enjoyed the class and look forward to practicing as much as time allows.

DJ Days Officially Over

Last night, Evan sold his prized sub, crossover and rack from his college days. They were all either in the attic or the spare room taking up space. So, he decided to let them go. It was emotionally draining for him, he said. I think it was letting go of the awesome memories we have of STE parties, where admittedly, he was the best dj ever (maybe I'm a little biased).

Hmmm. Memories. Why do we have to grow up so fast?

Neat-o Gadget

I saw this little gadget in the Real Simple magazine and thought it was not only cute and colorful, but also helpful. This little device keeps track of how many days it's been since you've watered your plants, put the leftovers in the fridge, and so on.

Kodak moment

I just had to take this picture! This afternoon Evan and our tenant's son, Anthony, were working with clay in our basement "studio" . This little guy is a non-stop talker, so combined with Evan, I found this to be quite comical! :o)

Anthony says, "This is so much fun. I'm glad you guys didn't have to work today."

Amen to that.

A sample of our works

As you've read in this blog, Evan & I are taking a beginner's pottery class. Well, we have some of our finished pieces! I still have one waiting to be fired, and we both have pieces that are in the works. So, more to come!

In this photo, my pieces are the small vessels in the front: the teal/tan bowl and the cream/green pot. Evan has the large green bowl and the large and small brown bowls. As I said, we will have more to show from our class when they are complete. We also are slowly setting up our pottery "studio" in our basement. I use the word studio very loosely. It's a workspace. The kiln is hooked up though! I'll place a photo here of the kiln all set up. Evan had the exhaust hood custom made for us – perk for an HVAC/Plumbing Engineer, I guess.
